Rain, Rain, Win, Win! Route 106 6/18/11
Dear fans, and sponsors,
Do to lots of rain and cancellations we haven't raced very much.Like all the other races we've been to,it was supposed to rain. But, they didn't cancel it so we decided to head out and try to race.
We arrived about a little more than two hours before practice, so we would have time for me to have a little track time to get used to the car.The car hoped out of corner four, and two and was hard to control. So I pulled off and my father went right to work. So we went back out again, had the same problem and came off. Once again, my father went to work on the car. We repeated this process over and over. Until, it was time to practice. That's when we figured out that nobody was in my division so more track time to myself. BONUS!
Connor did his practice first and I was right after him. Apparently, he made contact but, that's all I can tell you because, I couldn't watch. I went out next and had the same problem. MORE ADJUSTMENTS... By the end of the practices we hadn't figured out quite what my problem was. But, then a flagman told my father that I needed to change my line a little. So next time out I changed my line just a little and the hop was almost gone. Heats were next and Connor finished last and was frustrated. After, I went out and actually raced! Apparently, they didn't want me to go out on the track by myself so, they combined my division with another that only had one driver. Still confused about the whole thing, I looked back and the guy had a beard!???!! Once we got out though we kept up to him and did farely well compared to before.
It wasn't long before it was time for the features. I could actually watch Connor for once. From the start Connor flew into third and was tracking done the first, and second drivers that had stretched out a lead. Connor was tracking them done and was reeling them in more and more every lap. Until, he caught them and took second place. After, that the leader and Connor pulled away and were laping the other cars when, the leader and a lapped car got together and spun. Connor avoided it and was put into first for the lead. At the start he pulled away but by the end the second place car was diving under Connor for the lead on the final lap right in front of the finish line. HE WON! HE WON! Connor won only by a couple feet. On his victory lap he tried a burn out.
I went out next and took off from the start but, the rocker car passed me. He took the lead by a few car lengths and we stayed about the same distance apart for most of the race until, the last lapp. When, he spun out and I passed him for the win! Double wins! Not bad for a day at the races.
