7/24/09 Route 106 raceway Engine trouble

This weekend we raced at Route 106 raceway. The first practice went great handling wise. It was awesome, but we didn't have a whole lot of power. So me and my Dad decided to switch to a gear that would give us more power, and then we went out for the second practice. The car handled all right and had a little more power than before but still not enough. So my Dad went over and asked one of our competitors what they were running for RPM's they said they were running 5600. So then we did the math and figured out they were running 200 more RPM's than we were. So then at that point on we knew it was our engine and that’s why we weren't being competitive. So the rest of the day dragged along and we finished third in the heat race and third out of four cars in the feature, not bad for engine trouble. Later that day my Dad said we are going to buy a new engine so we can be

Competitive.

  1. Hi Jack,

I've been reading about your racing experiences on this website. (Your dad gave me the info.) Wow! I can tell you are very serious about this. I like how you describe the events of your days/races, and then tell what you thought or how you felt about them. It seems to me like you are very patient and work hard to understand why things go the way they do, and then work to figure out how to make improvements. Have you gotten a new engine yet? I think it would be really cool to see one of your races. They sound exciting!

It's sad that summer is nearly over--but I'm glad to be going back to school now. It's been a great summer for me. I hope it has been for you too. I look forward to seeing you and all the kids on Wednesday. Try to stay cool on these very HOT days. It was fun to see you with your family at KAT's performance of Godspell. Say hello to Halley for me, okay? Bye for now.
